Terms of Service
Last updated August 23, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
Hiered is operated by Hiered LLC, a Michigan limited liability company (“Hiered,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Hiered platform (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”), which are an agreement between you and Hiered LLC. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will give notice by email or through the Service before they take effect. Changes apply going forward only; continued use after they take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept a change, stop using the Service and delete your account.
We may add, modify, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Hiered. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate. If you are using Hiered on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
3. Accounts
- Every account is a member, a recruiter, or an organization. An account's type is fixed when it is created and cannot be changed afterwards — if you need a different type, create a separate account.
- You must verify your email address with a one-time code before your account is created and usable.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of others without their consent. The exception is an organization account, which is intended to be held by the organization's current leadership (see section 5).
- You must notify us immediately at support@hiered.net if you suspect unauthorized access.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information on your profile or any organization page
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users, including through repeated join, affiliation, invitation, or resume-access requests
- Use the platform to send spam, unsolicited messages, or bulk commercial outreach
- Scrape, crawl, or automatically collect data from the platform without written permission
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or circumvent any security feature, rate limit, verification check, or usage cap of the Service
- Impersonate another person or organization, or create an account to misrepresent your affiliation with one
- Use search, export, or resume features to build unauthorized recruiting databases or contact users outside the platform
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
5. Organizations
An organization account is the organization itself, not a person: it is the only administrator of its organization page, and it is the account that manages the roster, hierarchy and recap, bulletin board, affiliated recruiters, and organization settings. There is no in-product ownership transfer — leadership changes are handled by passing the organization account's credentials to the incoming leadership, so keep the account's email address and password current and under the organization's control.
Whoever holds that account is responsible for everything published under the organization page, including the member roster, position titles, hierarchy charts, bulletin posts, and descriptions, and for adding or removing people accurately and with their knowledge. Hiered may suspend or delete organizations that violate these Terms or that receive substantiated reports of harmful content. A suspended organization's page, search presence, and ability to act are withdrawn until the suspension is lifted. Verified badge status may be revoked at our discretion, and is revoked automatically when the claim it was granted for changes — for example, an organization changing the school it says it belongs to.
6. Recruiters
Recruiter accounts are intended for legitimate hiring professionals. By using recruiter features, you agree to contact candidates only through platform-provided channels, to respect candidate privacy and resume settings, and to accurately represent your company and opportunities. Misuse of recruiter tools — including bulk outreach, deceptive job postings, or unauthorized data harvesting — may result in account termination.
Recruiter verification confirms that you control a work email address at the company you claim; it is reviewed by us before it is granted. Changing your work email revokes that verification and re-queues it for review, and features that require a verified recruiter — including all resume access — stop until it is granted again. Affiliating with an organization requires that organization's approval; there is no way to affiliate yourself with an organization unilaterally.
7. Resumes and candidate data
A member's resume is never public. Members choose who may open it — any verified recruiter, only verified recruiters affiliated with one of their organizations, only recruiters they have individually approved, or no one at all — and we enforce that choice on every request. Recruiters on the free tier may open a limited number of distinct members' resumes per calendar month; that limit and the rate limits around it may not be circumvented.
If you are granted access to a resume or a member's contact details, you may use them only to evaluate and contact that person about opportunities at the company on your profile. You may not store, resell, redistribute, or share them with third parties, and you must delete them on request by that member or by us. A member may revoke your access at any time. You are independently responsible for complying with the employment, privacy, and data-protection laws that apply to you when you handle candidate data obtained through Hiered.
8. Content you post
You retain ownership of content you post to Hiered. By posting, you grant Hiered a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as necessary to operate and promote the Service — sublicensable only to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, who host and deliver it on our behalf. You represent that you have the right to post the content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights. This includes resumes, profile information, bulletin posts, organization descriptions, hierarchy and recap data, and the profiles you save within the platform.
We may remove any content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to the community.
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or feature ideas, you grant us an unrestricted, royalty-free right to use them without obligation or compensation to you.
9. Paid plans and billing
- Recruiter Premium ($39/month) is billed monthly through Stripe. Prices are listed at checkout. Member and organization accounts are free, and there is no paid organization tier.
- The subscription renews automatically every month and your payment method is charged $39 each month until you cancel. There is no fixed term and no cancellation fee.
- Payments are final and refunds are issued at our discretion, except where a refund is required by law.
- Canceling a subscription takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then. Cancellation is self-serve through the Stripe customer portal.
- Organization affiliations you already hold are not removed if your subscription ends, but forming new ones requires an active subscription.
- Deleting your account cancels any live subscription.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to affected subscribers.
10. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. Hiered does not endorse or verify the accuracy of user-submitted content, including resumes, bulletin posts, job postings, or organizational affiliations, and a verification badge attests only to the specific fact described in our Privacy Policy — never to someone's current enrollment, employment, seniority, or the legitimacy of any particular opportunity.
Hiered is a platform, not an employer, employment agency, or recruiter. We do not participate in hiring decisions, do not screen users beyond the limited verification described above, and are not responsible for the conduct of any user — online or offline. Any dealings between you and another user, including interviews, offers, and anything you agree between yourselves, are solely between you. Use the same judgment you would with any stranger who contacted you about a job.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hiered and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits or data — arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hiered and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your content, or your use of the Service. We may assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us; you may not settle any such matter without our prior written consent.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. A suspended account cannot make changes on Hiered, does not appear in search, and its profile or organization page is not shown to other users. Our staff can still view it, which is what allows a suspension to be reviewed or lifted. Suspension does not expire on its own — it lasts until we lift it. We will email you the reason for a suspension, and you may appeal by replying to that email or writing to support@hiered.net.
You may delete your account yourself at any time from your account settings; an organization is deleted from its settings, which also removes the organization's login account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes your profile and associated content, except for the limited records described in our Privacy Policy — moderation and audit logs, notifications already delivered to other users, and billing records held by our payment processor. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid fees.
Sections 7, 8, and 11 through 16 survive termination of your account.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. The state and federal courts located in Michigan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing here removes any right you have to bring a claim in your local courts where the law of your country of residence gives you that right.
16. General
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision is modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the rest remains in full force.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Hiered LLC about the Service and supersede any prior understanding.
- Notices. We give notice to you by email to your account address or by posting in the Service; you give notice to us at support@hiered.net.
- Copyright. If you believe content on Hiered infringes your copyright, email support@hiered.net with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears. We remove infringing content and terminate repeat infringers.
